This comes as a shocker to many, who expect prestigious film festivals like the one in Toronto to disregard Bollywood's masala films.
Says director Vipul Shah, "I am happy and honoured that the movie has been invited for such a prestigious festival. It has done extremely well not only in India but abroad as well." Vipul's already planning another film with his favourite Akshay again. Guess the actor's fast becoming Vipul's lucky mascot!
Singh Is Kinng has set new records at the worldwide box-office, raking in approximately $25 million to date and still going strong.
The screening will be attended by director Anees Bazmi, producer Vipual Shah and of course lead actors Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. It should also be noted that TIFF has has gala presentations for films like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and The Last Lear in the past as well.
In addition to this film, Irrfan Khan will also be at the Toronto Film Festival for his film New York, I Love You. He features in the short film titled 'Kosher-Vegetarian' which was directed by Mira Nair and co-stars Natalie Portman.
The film festival that ends September 13 will showcase a total of 312 films.
